Whiskey Tango scores 28 in rout of Spill 911
INDIANAPOLIS – In one of those games that is over before it really even gets started, the Spill 911 Inc. softball team lost its second consecutive game Sunday by a score of 28-2 in four innings.
Whiskey Tango Fox Trot recorded 8 runs before recording an out, and led 11-0 after the first inning. After Spill was able to keep them off the scoreboard in the second, they combined to put up 17 runs in the third and fourth innings before winning by the 20-run mercy rule after the fourth inning.
Spill manager J.P. Moore said he thought the team played terrible in every aspect.
“We sucked,” Moore said. “I just don’t know how else I can put it. Adjustments will be made, and we have nowhere to go but up.”
The lone bright spots for Spill came in the bottom of the 2nd inning, when it scored the only two runs of the game. Jeff Fourman led off the inning with a single and reached 2nd base on a throwing error. Fourman later scored when Moore drove him in with an RBI single.
Jason Quick then reached first on a fielder’s choice, advanced to second on a Phil Lovison single and scored two batters later when Alex Lovern drew a walk with the bases loaded.
Most of the players declined to speak with the media following the game, but Quick did offer a brief comment.
“There really isn’t a whole lot to say,” Quick said. “I mean, 28-2. That’s fucked up. I can’t even beat a team that bad on a video game. I don’t think they ran up the score. I mean, if we can’t stop them, they should run it up. That’s how the New England Patriots roll. And that’s how I would roll if I were in that situation. We just need to start rollin’ like that. Or at least score more than two mother fuckin’ runs in a slow-pitch softball game. Jesus.”
Spill 911 will take on BS Associates at 8:30 p.m. Sunday. |
